English | HDTV 720p SoS | AVI | Xvid 1280x720 29.97fps | Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch 384Kbps | 1.7GB

Beautifully photographed in 4K digital cinematography, the film is a visually stunning chronicle of the history of the telescope from the time of Galileo, its profound impact upon the science of astronomy, and how both shape the way we view ourselves in the midst of an infinite universe. The film features interviews with leading astrophysicists and cosmologists from the world's renowned universities and observatories, who explain concepts ranging from Galileo's act of revealing the cosmos with a simple telescope, to the latest discoveries in space, including startling new ideas about life on other planets and dark energy — a mysterious vacuum energy that is accelerating the expansion of the universe

English | 720p HDTV SoS | XviD 1280x720 4098Kbps 29.97fps | AC3 384Kbps 6CH 48KHz | 00:52:39 | 1.65GB

Kilauea continually molds Hawaii s Big Island. Creating new land, shaping ancient forests and carving tunnels through the earth, the volcano fascinates a dedicated group of scientists and filmmakers who follow its every action. Using innovative new imaging technologies to map the magma chamber, following the lava s heat along its journey underground, and listening to the constant noises of its movements, geologists map the shifting liquid earth as they work to understand its awesome force.

Ejecting fire, molten rock, giant boulders and poisonous gases, the volcano can be a hazard for researchers, homeowners, plants and animals, but it doesn t just leave destruction in its wake. Twists and turns in the lava s flow leave some patches of original ecosystems, called kipukas, undisturbed. These oases of life provide a haven to many rare creatures including the Hawaiian state bird, the Nene but remain in constant danger from the volcano and from invasive species.

At the end of its journey, the lava meets the ocean. Braving an extremely hot sea, filmmakers record the birth of new land. Violent and beautiful, destructive and creative, Kilauea: Mountain of Fire explores the incredible power of the volcano and the challenges of life in its shadow.

PBS Nature - Eagles of Mull (2009)
English | 720p HDTV SoS | XviD 1280x720 4363Kbps | AC3 384Kbps 6CH 48KHz | 00:49:43 | 1.65GB

The Scottish island of Mull provides a beautiful backdrop for this insider’s guide to its thriving wildlife. Located off the coast of western Scotland, the island of Mull is one of those rare and fortunate places that seem untouched by the passage of time. From its powder-white beaches to snow-capped mountain peaks, Mull has an incredible diversity of life. A blend of mountains, forests, bogs, coastline, moorland and crystal clear rivers, Mull’s rich variety of habitat is matched only by the abundance of wildlife. The golden eagle and the rare white tailed eagle, which has only returned to Mull in the last 15 years, have strongholds on the island. But these aerial killers are not alone in the skies above Mull. The calls of gulls, oystercatchers, curlew and skylarks fill the air. The numerous species of birds represent just a small part of the island’s biodiversity. The surrounding waters play host to minke whales, bottlenose dolphins, grey seals and basking sharks. Otters fish in the many sea lochs, while on land you’re likely to catch sight of deer, mink, and maybe even the elusive wild white goats. Cameraman Gordon Buchanan turns the lens on his birthplace to give an insight into the wild characters of this remarkable island.
